Maggie Furey

Maggie Furey was born Maggie Armstrong in 1955 in Northumberland, England. She trained as a teacher and began writing fantasy in 1994, when her first novel, Aurian, appeared. That book started the Artefacts of Power sequence, which she followed with the Shadowleague trilogy and the Chronicles of the Xandim, and she also wrote two young adult novels, Sorceress and Spindrift, for the shared-world series The Web. Alongside her writing she reviewed books for BBC Radio Newcastle, advised at the Durham Reading Resources Centre and organised children's book fairs. She lived for many years in County Wicklow, Ireland, and died there in November 2016, aged 60.
