Storm Constantine was born October 12, 1956, in Stafford, Staffordshire, England, and died January 14, 2021, at age sixty-four following a prolonged illness. A British science fiction and fantasy author, she began publishing short stories in genre magazines during the 1980s and went on to write more than thirty novels and non-fiction works, many exploring themes of sex and gender. In 2003 she founded Immanion Press to publish her own work alongside that of other niche writers. She is best known for the Wraeththu Chronicles, beginning with The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit (1987), a Lambda Literary Award finalist, followed by The Bewitchments of Love and Hate (1988) and The Fulfillments of Fate and Desire (1989), which introduced an androgynous post-human race and became a landmark of gender-fluid speculative fiction. Her other major works include the modern fantasy Grigori trilogy, the more conventional Magravandias trilogy, the science fiction Artemis duet, and Silverheart, co-written with Michael Moorcock. She lived in Stafford throughout her life and was married to Jim Hibbert.
