Synopsis
For centuries mages have protected people from vampires, supplying hunters with potions and spells, and townsfolk and remote villagers have counted on a wizard's help. Then everything changes: the old enemies move close together, blessed by both the Chapter of Mages and the nobility of the Night People. Why they want this, and who will be sacrificed to a fragile peace, is unclear. The story follows a nameless hunter and his apprentice, the gifted sorceress Alisanda du Vargas of the Congregation, and the healer-scholar Bonaventura, while the hermit mage Veniamin Skorre goes his own way, since for him vampires remain the chief enemy.
