Synopsis
The Valley of Mages prepares for restless times. The Guild of Combat Mages is at its peak, with orders arriving from many worlds and other guilds asking for escorts on their journeys, but there are not enough mages to go round. The laws set by the Founders forbid the Guild to grow. Its head, Richard d'Assini, pushes to change that law, and the hired combat mage Klara Hümmel finds herself between her Guild and the Archmage of the Valley, Ignatius Copper. Far away, a young hunter of magical creatures, Evarha, takes an unusual commission. No one suspects that these events are linked and lead toward catastrophe.
