Synopsis

Wulf has left the monastery and works as the apprentice of Spook Johnson, protecting the County from dark creatures, mostly by serving as bait. He is captured by Hrothgar, a giant who can summon obedient creatures called tulpas, and Hrothgar suspects that Wulf has the same power. Wulf reluctantly begins to train under his new master. Meanwhile Tom and Alice are held prisoner by a witch and her minions. Wulf and his friend Tilda set out to rescue them, which means entering the enchanted lair of the witch Circe, where nothing is quite as it seems, and where Wulf's growing abilities may be both his best weapon and his greatest danger.

  • From the series record (Brother Wulf): Four novels following the novice monk Wulf and Tom Ward.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
