Synopsis

As the fourth entry in the series, Child of Flame pushes the overarching plot forward more decisively than its immediate predecessor, digging deeper into the central mysteries surrounding Liath's power and the looming threat to Wendar while building toward a series of major battles. Alain and Liath in particular are carried into unfamiliar, disorienting territory as the consequences of earlier books catch up with them, and several long-running storylines reach turning points that force both characters and readers to reconsider assumptions built up over the previous three novels. With Liath's presence in the narrative notably reduced compared to earlier volumes, other characters, and the wider political and military crisis facing King Henry's kingdom, take on greater weight as the series approaches its midpoint.

Notes

  • From the series record (Crown of Stars): A seven-volume secondary-world epic drawing on early medieval European history and astronomy/astrology, following a large ensemble cast across a single continuous conflict.
