Synopsis
Ranira is an indentured servant at a cruel inn in the city of Drinn. When the Midwinter Festival begins and the city is sealed, three magical guests arrive at the inn and ask for shelter. Temple guards are hunting them, and Ranira is the only one in a position to hide them. Protecting her guests means using a power she has avoided all her life, because it once cost her parents their lives. With the festival closing in, she must decide how much she is willing to risk for strangers, and what her inheritance really is.
