Synopsis
Dead Heat is the fourth novel in the Alpha and Omega series. Charles and Anna travel to Arizona for what is meant to be a personal trip, so Charles can visit one of his oldest friends and help choose a horse for Anna. The visit quickly turns dangerous when they discover a fae creature loose in the area, one that has been replacing human children with lifelike simulacra. Investigating the disappearances draws the couple into the middle of rising tensions between the fae courts and the human government, who are already negotiating an uneasy truce. With old grudges and fresh suspicions complicating the fae's willingness to help, Charles and Anna must track down the creature responsible before the fragile peace between humans and the fae collapses entirely.
