Synopsis

Silver Borne continues the Mercy Thompson series as Mercy takes on the task of returning a dangerous, forbidden fae book to the bookstore that once held it, only to discover the shop has closed and the book's rightful owners are harder to track down than expected. While navigating the complications of that errand, she is also drawn into helping her friend Samuel, a fellow shapeshifter, through a personal crisis serious enough to threaten his stability and risk drawing the attention of his powerful and formidable father. As Mercy tries to manage both situations, she finds herself pulled further into the fae community's internal politics, where the book's contents prove to matter more than she initially realized. Balancing loyalty to Samuel with the mounting danger surrounding the book, Mercy must move carefully among fae, werewolves, and old debts as the stakes of both problems continue to rise.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
