Synopsis

Doom of the Darksword, published by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman in 1988, continues the Darksword Trilogy after Forging the Darksword. Having forged the Darksword and learned the truth of his royal birth, Joram sets out to reclaim the position that was stolen from him as an infant, traveling with allies including the conflicted catalyst Saryon and the unpredictable trickster Simkin. His pursuit of his birthright forces him deeper into the politics of Thimhallan's magocracy, a society already unsettled by rumors of the prophesied Dead child capable of wielding a weapon no magic can touch. As Joram's quest for his rightful place collides with the fears his very existence provokes among Thimhallan's magic-wielding rulers, the consequences of the Darksword's creation begin to ripple outward in ways even Joram did not anticipate.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Darksword Trilogy): A separate world from Weis & Hickman's Dragonlance and Death Gate Cycle, already admitted to this canon; set in a world where magic is common and technology is treated as forbidden sorcery.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
