Synopsis

Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands, the second novel in Heather Fawcett's Emily Wilde series, picks up after Emily's discovery that her colleague and rival Wendell Bambleby is in truth an exiled faerie king, hidden among humans to escape his own dangerous court. When assassins sent by Wendell's mother begin targeting the pair, Emily and Wendell travel together to the Austrian Alps, ostensibly to continue Emily's scholarly work mapping the various faerie realms known as the Otherlands, while also searching for a door that might lead Wendell back toward reclaiming his throne. As their expedition advances through unfamiliar and perilous faerie territory, Emily must balance her academic ambitions and her increasingly complicated feelings for Wendell against the very real threat his mother's assassins pose to them both, all while trying to remain the clear-eyed scholar she has always considered herself.
