Synopsis
The second novel of the Legends of the Emerged World trilogy continues immediately after the events of the previous book, following Adhara after she escapes the captivity in which she was held. Her body has begun to deteriorate, a consequence of her true nature as a being who must complete her transformation into a full Sheireen, and she sets out to find Amhal, the man she loves, who has been altered and is now controlled by hostile forces. Accompanied at times by the vengeful Amina and by Adrass, the figure responsible for her creation who becomes an unlikely ally, Adhara is pursued across the Emerged World by enemies including the order known as the Fratelli della Folgore, all while she searches for a way to halt her own decline and understand what she is meant to become.
