Overview
Chronicles of the Emerged World, published in English translation as Chronicles of the Overworld, is a complete three-book Italian high-fantasy trilogy by Licia Troisi, a genuinely new author to this canon, published by Mondadori between April 2004 and April 2005. It follows Nihal, a half-elf girl warrior, and Sennar, an apprentice wizard, across the fantasy continent of the Overworld. The trilogy made Troisi Italy's best-selling fantasy author, with roughly 900,000 copies sold domestically, and it has since been translated into German, French, Spanish and Russian, among other languages, alongside the two further trilogies she set in the same world, Wars of the Emerged World and Legends of the Emerged World. The series helped establish a homegrown Italian tradition of secondary-world epic fantasy aimed at a young-adult readership, distinct from the largely Anglo-American genre it followed.
