Synopsis

The second novel of the Wars of the Emerged World trilogy follows Dubhe, the cursed young woman marked as a Child of Death who has fled the assassins' guild, and Lonerin, the mage who infiltrated it to spy for the Water Council, as the two undertake a perilous journey across enemy-held territory to reach the wizard Sennar. They are pursued by the guild's agents, including the venomous assassin Rekla. In a parallel thread, the aging general Ido, who leads resistance against the despot Dohor, races to protect San, a twelve-year-old half-elf with innate healing powers and grandson of the legendary Nihal, from the guild's pursuit. The guild intends to use San's body in its scheme to resurrect the dead tyrant Aster and install the Dragon Knight Dohor as the world's new despot.

Notes

  • From the series record (Wars of the Emerged World): Direct continuation trilogy set in the same Mondo Emerso world as Chronicles of the Emerged World, published by Mondadori (2006-2007). No English translation is documented to date.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
