Synopsis

In the ninth Secret Histories novel, Eddie Drood faces a conspiracy that strikes at the heart of his own family, forcing him to confront enemies who may be closer to home than the outside threats he has grown used to fighting. As the plot unfolds, Eddie must piece together who within the Droods' ranks can be trusted while contending with external forces eager to exploit any weakness the family shows. The novel continues the series' ongoing exploration of the cost of the Droods' secret guardianship, as Eddie is pushed to question long-standing assumptions about loyalty, duty, and the family's own history, even as he works to prevent a scheme that could unravel the fragile order they maintain.

Notes

  • From the series record (Secret Histories): Follows the Drood family of secret agent-sorcerers; a separate urban-fantasy sequence from this same author's already-admitted Nightside series, with its own cast and premise (occasional cross-references between the two exist but neither series requires the other to be read).

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
