Synopsis
The tenth Secret Histories novel sends Eddie Drood to investigate a mystery centered on a covert medical or scientific facility within the hidden world, where supernatural experimentation has produced dangerous, uncontrolled results. Eddie must untangle who is responsible for the disaster and contain its fallout before it threatens both the ordinary world and the fragile balance the Droods maintain over its hidden dangers. Working through a web of secretive researchers, rival agents, and uncooperative witnesses, Eddie relies on his family's authority and his own investigative instincts to get to the truth. The novel continues the series' pattern of pairing pulp-adventure set pieces with an ongoing look at the Droods' uneasy relationship with the darker corners of the world they protect.
