Synopsis

In the eleventh Secret Histories novel, Eddie Drood is drawn into a scheme unfolding around a mysterious weapon or artifact referred to as the Moonbreaker, whose potential power threatens to upset the balance among the hidden world's rival factions. Eddie must track down those seeking to control the artifact and prevent it from being used to catastrophic effect, navigating a landscape of double-crosses and uneasy alliances among both old enemies and unexpected allies. As the story builds toward the series' later entries, Eddie contends with the accumulating consequences of his family's long history of secret warfare, testing how far the Droods' authority still extends as new and unpredictable threats emerge from beyond their usual adversaries.

Notes

  • From the series record (Secret Histories): Follows the Drood family of secret agent-sorcerers; a separate urban-fantasy sequence from this same author's already-admitted Nightside series, with its own cast and premise (occasional cross-references between the two exist but neither series requires the other to be read).

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
