Synopsis
In the fourth novel of the main Nightside sequence, private detective John Taylor is hired by the enigmatic figure known as Lady Luck to investigate the mysterious and long-buried origins of the Nightside itself, the hidden district of London where the ordinary rules of reality do not apply. As Taylor digs into the case, he finds that the trail leads directly into the greatest unanswered mystery of his own life: the true identity and nature of his long-absent mother, about whom he has never been able to learn anything certain. The investigation forces Taylor to confront both the secret history of the place he calls home and the personal questions he has avoided for years.
