Synopsis

In the third Secret Histories novel, Eddie Drood is sent undercover into the Nightside, a hidden, perpetually dark district of London ruled by its own dangerous rules and populated by supernatural beings, criminals, and rogue magicians. Posing as someone other than a Drood, Eddie must operate without the protection his family name usually affords, navigating a treacherous network of contacts and enemies to complete a mission whose full stakes only become clear as he goes deeper into the district's underworld. The assignment forces him to rely on skill and improvisation rather than the Droods' resources, while old rivalries and new threats from the Nightside's power brokers complicate his efforts to get in, get his information, and get out alive.

Notes

  • From the series record (Secret Histories): Follows the Drood family of secret agent-sorcerers; a separate urban-fantasy sequence from this same author's already-admitted Nightside series, with its own cast and premise (occasional cross-references between the two exist but neither series requires the other to be read).

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
