Synopsis

Myth Conceptions continues directly from Another Fine Myth, following Skeeve, still an apprentice wizard, as he and his demon partner and mentor Aahz, a native of the dimension Perv, take up a new assignment as court wizards for a kingdom facing invasion. The two are hired specifically for the seemingly impossible task of finding a way to defeat an army many times the size of anything the kingdom itself can muster, a challenge that pushes Skeeve to rely on cleverness and unconventional tactics rather than raw magical power, since his own abilities are still developing. Their efforts draw them into the kingdom's court politics and expose them to the wider cast of dimension-hopping allies and rivals that recurs throughout the series, as Skeeve continues learning the practical side of magic under Aahz's often exasperated guidance while trying to keep the overmatched kingdom from being overrun.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
