Synopsis
Slaktare små continues the Chronicle of the Fifth Conflux roughly a century after the events of Svavelvinter, in a weakened Trakorien that has lost control of its sulfur colony on Marjura. General Praanz da Kaelve seeks to reclaim the island from undead creatures called crurers, but finds himself opposed by the empress herself, as political tensions escalate between the imperial faction and the powerful merchant order known as Nya Sfären. Meanwhile, the sorcerer Shagul returns to the decaying city of Fontra Cilor after a hundred-year absence, buying an abandoned palace and positioning himself as advisor to a puppet prince while quietly seizing control of the assassin cult RhabdoRana, all to keep the secret of the fifth conflux for his own purposes, as a cryptic children's song hints at darker forces moving through the city.
