Synopsis

Dina DeMille has settled into her life as innkeeper of the Gertrude Hunt, but the inn's rating is low and guests are scarce, so when an Arbitrator arrives with an offer she cannot refuse, a peace summit between three warring factions over the planet Nexus, she takes it. The delegations are the vampire Holy Anocracy, the otrokar Horde and the Merchants of Baha-char, none of whom has ever managed to stay in a room with the others without bloodshed, and the summit's hired muscle includes a group of expert fighters from a place called the Edge: George, Jack and Gaston, who readers of the authors' Edge novels will recognise. Dina must keep the peace with a sentient inn, a seven-year-old vampire marshal, a werewolf who has gone to the stars and an inn's worth of hidden agendas, while the Arbitrator's real purpose stays hidden.

Notes

  • From the series record (Innkeeper Chronicles): Dina DeMille, innkeeper of the Gertrude Hunt, a sentient bed-and-breakfast in Texas that is secretly a way-stop for galactic travellers. Set in the same world as The Edge: George, Jack and Gaston of the Edge novels join the cast from the second book. Serialised free online before each volume's publication; a final volume is still planned.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series Innkeeper Chronicles: position 2 of 6: previous Clean Sweep (2013) · next One Fell Sweep (2016)
  • Internal chronology, within The Edge / Innkeeper Chronicles: position 5 of 11: previous Bayou Moon (2010) · next Fate's Edge (2011)
