Synopsis
In his quest to destroy all the magic in the world, the last great mage, Lord Eldrich, sends Erasmus Flattery to find and eliminate Anna, the leader of the Tellerites, a group of fanatics desperate to preserve magic, including the key to immortality. But as Erasmus becomes resentful of Eldrich and strangely loyal to those he is sent to hunt, the hunt turns on the question of where his loyalties, and his own Talent, truly lie. Picking up where Beneath the Vaulted Hills leaves off, as the second half of The River into Darkness, it was published by DAW Books in 1998; SF Site called the pair just the sort of books that can sweep you away from your day-to-day life.
