Synopsis
Hawk Rhiscarlan tries to win the favor of King Andreus of Senna Lirwan by completing a scheme in which Andreus failed before. Tyron goes undercover in the shape of a dog to learn which of Cantirmoor's nobles are involved, but Hawk captures him. Meanwhile Wren, who was found as a small child by the Siradi border guards after a brigand attack, visits their records center to look for traces of her past. Connor Shaltar, a young man with a talent for magic, travels with her for protection. Mysterious couriers in blue shadow their journey, and when a forest fire breaks out Connor uses his magic to stop it, leaving himself unconscious for two days.
