Overview

Karen Miller's Godspeaker trilogy (2007-2008) is a dark theocratic epic of two lands. In the blood-soaked desert empire of Mijak, where godspeakers read the god's will in sacrifice, Hekat, a slave girl sold by her father, discovers she can hear the god, and climbs from slavery to the throne as an empress convinced she is commanded to conquer the world. On the island of Ethrea, Rhian, the dying king's only daughter, must hold a throne her church says no woman may sit on, helped by a toymaker who hears God and by Zandakar, Hekat's exiled son. A markedly darker book than Miller's Kingmaker, Kingbreaker, and a separate world from it.
