Overview
Grimpow is a Spanish young-adult historical-fantasy duology by Rafael Abalos, originally published as Grimpow, el camino invisible (2005) and Grimpow y la bruja de la estirpe (2009) before being translated into English and several other languages. Set in the winter of 1313, the first novel follows Grimpow, a peasant boy who discovers a strange, glowing stone on the body of a dead traveler in the snowy mountains and is drawn into a conspiracy involving the recently suppressed Knights Templar, secret societies, and the legendary Philosopher's Stone across medieval Europe. The sequel follows Grimpow into further intrigue tied to hidden magical knowledge and the same network of secret orders introduced in the first book. The duology was well received internationally on release, earning Abalos the Youth Book of the Year award in the Netherlands in 2007 for the first volume.
