Overview
Nampeshiweisit is an alternate-history fantasy series set in a version of colonial North America where dragons are real and the fate of nations turns on who can bond with one. Its protagonist is a member of the Anequs people whose bond with a dragon forces her into a colonial academy built to keep power away from people like her. The series draws directly on Indigenous American history, language and worldbuilding, reframing the familiar dragon-rider-school premise around colonialism rather than around it.
