Operation Chaos is a pair of fantasy novels by the American writer Poul Anderson, set in an alternate twentieth-century America where magic is practical and God's existence is scientifically proven. The first, Operation Chaos (1971), is a fix-up of four stories first printed in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction between 1956 and 1969. It follows the werewolf Steven Matuchek and the witch Virginia Graylock, who meet while the United States fights a resurgent Islamic Caliphate and who later marry. Operation Luna (1999) continues their story as a married couple with three children, helping plan a private mission to the Moon.
