Overview
Set amid the real Hussite Wars that tore through 15th-century Silesia and Bohemia, the Hussite Trilogy follows Reinmar of Bielawa, a young sorcerer-scholar and reluctant fugitive pursued by the Inquisition for practicing magic, as he's swept into the religious and political violence of the era, eventually serving as a spy for the Hussite cause. Written by Andrzej Sapkowski, creator of The Witcher, it trades that series' invented world for a fantastical retelling of documented history, blending real battles and factions with magic, demons, and folklore. Unlike Sapkowski's stoic, world-weary Geralt, Reinmar is drawn as charming and intelligent but frequently reckless, giving the trilogy a more comic, mishap-prone tone alongside its historical violence. The trilogy comprises The Tower of Fools (2020), Warriors of God (2021), and Light Perpetual (2022), translated into English from the original Polish.
