Overview

The Iron Fey follows Meghan Chase, an ordinary teenager who discovers she is half-fae, the daughter of the Summer Court's King Oberon, after her younger brother is stolen and replaced with a changeling. Drawn into the Nevernever, the parallel faery realm bordering the mortal world, Meghan is caught in a war between the Summer and Winter Courts and a new, technology-born Iron Court that neither can enter, falling for Ash, a prince of Winter, along the way. Julie Kagawa's four-book original series (2010-2011) draws on figures from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream alongside original creations, blending romantic fantasy adventure with the Nevernever's shifting, dreamlike geography of Summer, Winter, and Iron territory. The series' popularity led to spin-off trilogies following other characters, including Meghan's brother Ethan, extending the same world well beyond the original quartet.
