Overview

The Weather Warden universe is an urban fantasy world created by Rachel Caine. In it, Wardens, an organization that rents space from the United Nations, use powers over weather, earth and fire to stop natural disasters, and they work with and against the Djinn, supernatural beings who partner with them. The nine Weather Warden novels, published by Roc from Ill Wind (2003) to Total Eclipse (2010), follow Warden Joanne Baldwin, who goes on the run after being accused of murder. The four Outcast Season novels (2009 to 2012) continue in the same world, following Cassiel, a Djinn exiled into human form who depends on Wardens, and her partner, the Warden Luis Rocha. A tenth Weather Warden book was planned but was left unfinished when Caine died in 2020.
