Synopsis

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir, part human and part vampire. Dhampirs are prone to violent rages that usually cut their lives short, but Dory keeps her sanity by hunting demons and vampires who deserve it. Back in Brooklyn after the death of her unstable uncle Dracula, she hopes for some peace. Instead a friend asks for help finding a magical Fey relic, and the vampire Louis-Cesare comes looking for his former mistress, Christine. They learn that the master vampire Christine is bound to may also have the relic. When he turns up dead, someone is murdering members of the vampire Senate.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
