Synopsis
The sixth Secret Histories novel finds Eddie Drood drawn into a high-stakes gambling milieu where supernatural players and hidden agendas make every game a matter of life and death. Assigned to investigate or intervene in a dangerous scheme unfolding at a clandestine casino frequented by the hidden world's power brokers, Eddie must use his family's resources and his own instincts to identify the real threat behind the evening's events before it escalates. The novel continues the series' pattern of placing Eddie in glamorous but treacherous settings where the Droods' authority is tested by rivals and opportunists, while ongoing tensions within the family itself keep Eddie uncertain of exactly whom, beyond his immediate circle, he can fully trust.
