Overview
Les Sentiers des Astres (“The Paths of the Stars”) is a completed French-language heroic/mythic fantasy trilogy by the Belgian author Stefan Platteau, published by the independent French press Les Moutons électriques. It follows a crew of warriors sailing two boats up a sacred river through a Nordic-inflected forest in search of a legendary oracle, the Roi-diseur, whose knowledge might change the course of a civil war; the story alternates between a bard's account of the expedition and the tale of a gravely wounded man the crew rescues along the way. Reader and critic reception consistently describes the trilogy's worldbuilding as drawing deliberately on Nordic, Celtic and Indian mythological influences rather than a single default fantasy template.
Surfaced by a deliberate obscure/non-Anglo-American canon-discovery angle (2026-08-20): searching France's own national fantasy-literature award, the Prix Imaginales, rather than Anglo-American trade-press best-of lists, the same discovery method that originally surfaced Crónicas de Allaryia.
