Overview
Deepgate Codex is a dark fantasy trilogy by Alan Campbell, set in a vast city suspended by ten thousand chains over a bottomless abyss housing the imprisoned remnants of a fallen god's army. It follows an assassin serving the city's temple, a fallen angel who has lost her wings and her place among the divine, and a god of clocks who quietly manipulates events from behind the scenes, through a war between rival theocracies and the demons imprisoned beneath the city. The trilogy comprises Scar Night (2006), Iron Angel (2008), and God of Clocks (2009); Campbell, a former video-game artist, has cited that background as an influence on the trilogy's heavily visual, architecturally inventive setting.
