Overview

The Sovereign Stone Trilogy is a completed epic fantasy series by longtime co-authors Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, set on the continent of Loerem, a feudal secondary world shared among humans, elves, dwarves, orks, and other peoples, and tied to the authors’ own tabletop role-playing game of the same name. The opening volume, Well of Darkness, is set five centuries before the rest of the story and follows Prince Helmos, heir to the human kingdom of Vinnengael, and his ambitious half-brother Prince Dagnarus, alongside Gareth, chosen as Dagnarus’s whipping boy and drawn into his master’s growing hunger for power and his own descent into forbidden Void magic.

The second and third volumes, Guardians of the Lost and Journey into the Void, jump forward two centuries to the resurfacing of the long-lost Sovereign Stone artifact and open warfare across Loerem, as the now-undying Dagnarus, a Lord of the Void, moves to seize the throne of Vinnengael and the wider continent, and a small group of unlikely allies are drawn into the effort to stop him.
