Overview
Two linked trilogies set in the same world: the Serene Empire, city-states ruled through bound magical talents, and Vaskandar, its rival to the north, ruled by shapeshifting warlords. Swords and Fire (2017-2019) follows Amalia Cornaro and a fire warlock she is magically bound to; Rooks and Ruin (2020-2022) is set roughly a century and a half later and follows Ryx, a warden with a dangerous curse, and the magical-crisis response team known as the Rookery.
