Overview

The Shadow Campaigns is a flintlock fantasy series that trades knights and dragons for muskets, cannon, and the logistics of a standing army. It follows Captain (later Colonel) Marcus D'Ivoire and the ex-slave officer Winter Ihernglass through a colonial war of conquest that becomes a revolution, then a continental conflict shaped as much by gunpowder tactics as by the god-touched magic worked by a small, secretive order of sorcerers.

Across five novels the series follows its two leads from junior officers in a desert campaign to the commanders who reshape their nation's politics, balancing large-scale battle sequences with a slow reveal of the deeper cosmic conflict underneath the war.
