A tie-in sword-and-sorcery sequence for a tabletop miniatures-game setting, following a doom-seeking dwarf monster-slayer and the human chronicler who records his end. William King's Gotrek and Felix follows the pair through episodic, standalone adventures across the Warhammer Fantasy world, repeatedly bringing them into conflict with the forces of Chaos while slowly revealing fragments of Felix's own past as the series' narrator and chronicler. King originally wrote the pair's debut story, "Geheimnisnacht," as a 1988 standalone in which Gotrek was meant to die, but revised his plans after growing attached to the characters, and the success of several short stories led Black Library to commission the first full-length novel, Trollslayer, published in 1999. The series' commercial success led to further installments beyond King's original run, along with omnibus compilations, a 2003 second edition, and a 2013 Black Library Classics reissue.
