Overview
In a world of multiple crossable realities where an industrial revolution runs on magic, archaeology student Tyen discovers Vella, a sentient book that was once a sorcerer transformed by the Raen — the most powerful sorcerer and ruler of all worlds, whose grip has held the realities under his control for a thousand years. In a separate land, Rielle, a dyer’s daughter with a natural magical gift, defies a priesthood that teaches magic use is sinful. Their parallel stories converge as both are pulled into resistance against the Raen, and the closing two books widen the struggle into open war over who gets to remake the worlds he has ruled for so long. Core Canon is the complete four-book quartet, a self-contained setting distinct from Canavan’s earlier Kyralia and Age of the Five worlds.
